Estate Planning Process

The thought of estate planning can be overwhelming for many individuals and families.
At McManus Estate Planning LLC, we strive to simplify the process.

We do not require that you fill out or gather any paperwork prior to our initial meeting. However, there are certain matters we ask you to put some thought into in order for the meeting to be most productive. For more information, please refer to this sheet entitled "Preparing for The Estate Planning Consultation".

At the estate planning consultation, we will discuss your specific estate planning needs and goals. Questions are answered, pertinent information is gathered, attorney recommendations are given, and exact fees are provided. There is no obligation to proceed at the conclusion of this meeting. However, clients wishing to proceed will be asked to sign a fee agreement and schedule a signing meeting (3-4 weeks out). This meeting is complimentary and lasts approximately one hour. Married couples must attend this appointment together.

At the estate signing appointment the legal documents are drafted, printed, and ready for signature. Each document will be thoroughly reviewed by the attorney at this time. This appointment lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Payment in full is required.

After signing your documents, your trust must be funded in order to be effective. This is VERY important! Most law firms require that individuals handle this step on their own. We provide detailed funding instructions as well other options to assist you.

We strongly encourage our clients to sit down with us every few years to review their estate plan. Laws change as do life circumstances, and we want to ensure that your plan will work how and when you want it to!
